Abdullah attends premiere of Disney on Ice

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his wife Datin Paduka Seri Endon Mahmood attended the premiere of Disney on Ice's Beauty and the Beast at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil last night.

The show is presented by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) with the support of the Table Tennis Association of Malaysia, Volleyball Association of Malaysia and the Wushu Federation of Malaysia.

Among the VIPs who attended the premiere were Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Hishammuddin Hussein, Star Publications (M) Bhd group managing director/CEO Datuk Steven Tan and OCM honorary treasurer and Wushu president Datuk Seri Kee Yong Wee.

Before the show started, the OCM surprised Abdullah with a cake to celebrate his birthday which fell on Wednesday. The audience of some 7,000 joined in to sing “Happy Birthday” to the Prime Minister. The timeless Disney classic love story will be staged till Dec 7.

Kee said about RM600,000 had been collected from ticket sales which would be distributed to the OCM and three national sports associations.

”I am happy that the Prime Minister is here with his wife, children, in-laws and even his extended family. I believe there are about 100 people who are related to the Prime Minister who are here tonight. With this type of support, there is no wonder why the event is so successful,” Kee said.
